Richard Rodriguez-Campbell

After earning his J.D. from Pepperdine University, Richard began practicing in Los Angeles before moving to the Bay Area and founding BearingStone Law. While in Los Angeles, Richard served as an extern to the Honorable James J. Di Cesare in the Orange County Superior Court, then as a certified law clerk in the Criminal Division of the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office in Hollywood. While studying law at Pepperdine, he served as Staff Member on the Pepperdine Law Review, was a Semi-Finalist in the 2010 Dalsimer Moot Court Competition, and a finalist in Pepperdine’s 2010 Closing Argument Contest.

After passing the bar exam, Richard practiced law at a Southern California insurance defense firm handling civil cases involving construction defects, general liability, toxic tort, wrongful death, business litigation, and asbestos exposure, and at a downtown boutique Los Angeles firm where he litigated state and federal civil cases in the areas of labor and employment, government liability, general liability, and Constitutional law civil rights.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Richard was a scientist, studying biochemistry at UCLA and working as a cancer researcher at Cedars-Sinai and for a non-profit institute. His scientific work has been published in numerous journals, and he’s presented his research at oncology conferences around the world.

Richard lives in Lafayette with his wife, son, daughter, and black lab. When he’s not at home or in the office, he’s traveling with his family, on the golf course, or working at his family’s vineyard and winery.

 

Tara Clancy

Tara earned her B.A. from UCLA in 2002 and her J.D. from UC Davis School of Law (King Hall) in 2007. During law school, Tara was elected Senior Articles Editor with the UC Davis Law Review and was selected as a fellowship recipient by the Sacramento County Bar Association.

Tara currently advises clients in a variety of areas including trusts and estates, business matters, and employment law. Before joining the firm, Tara represented clients in a wide range of areas including commercial / business, labor/employment, real property, personal injury, products liability, premises liability, toxic torts, wrongful death, general and complex litigation, ADA accessibility, and privacy matters.

Tara has extensively litigated cases in federal and state court, as well as before federal and state administrative agencies and arbitration panels. In addition to serving on successful trial teams, Tara has extensive experience mediating complex disputes and arguing cases in federal and state court.

Before joining BearingStone Law, Tara worked with Am Law 100 and 200 law firms, representing primarily Fortune 500 companies as well as large/mid-sized corporations in the energy, retail, food and beverage, automotive, research/education, and manufacturing industries. Tara also served as in-house counsel to a large international hospitality and transportation company, where she delivered core legal services across the organization.

Tara is admitted to practice law before all courts in California as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, and Central Districts of California. She previously served as a committee co-chair for the Bar Association of San Francisco Barrister’s Club as well as a committee member for the Asian American Bar Association of San Francisco. In her spare time, Tara enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, and photography.

At BearingStone, Richard focuses on business law, and works with businesses and private individuals on financial transactions, real estate, acquisitions and dispositions, and estate planning.

Corporate Law

Richard advises private and commercial clients on contracts, corporate governance, and business transactions. His industry experience includes transactions in hospitality, food and beverage, real estate, and other industry segments.

Richard has represented both buyers and sellers on varying transaction sizes and recently worked with a privately held company in its $500 million dollar sale. This included creating and maintaining a secure data room, identifying and gathering material corporate documents, heavy involvement with responding to due diligence requests, and supporting the documentation team. Richard also offers general, in-house legal counsel on everything from contracts and leases to risk assessment and intellectual property protection.

Family Businesses and Estates

Richard works with businesses and private clients to manage estates and succession plans, and helps family offices with all manner of day-to-day operations, including coordinating with family heads, accountants, and estate planners.
